Kiambu Senator Karungo Wa Thangwa has raised alarm over what he describes as serious threats to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua while in Gatundu.

In a post on X, the senator claimed that “our team has received alarming and threatening messages claiming that former deputy president Gachagua will not leave Gatundu alive.”

He alleged that groups of armed individuals, described as “goons,” had been ferried to the area in buses, with some vehicles shown in accompanying photos.

Senator Wa Thangwa named local figures Kururia, Moses Kuria, and Betty Sawa as allegedly responsible, describing them as “all Kasongorites.”

He warned that if any harm comes to Gachagua, his convoy, or members of his team, these individuals would be accountable.

The senator noted that he was attending church at the time of posting and framed the tweet as an official record: “Since I am currently in church with RiggyG, this tweet should serve as my OB record and formal report.”

He also copied the Kenya Police, Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai, and Deputy Inspector General Japheth Lagat in the message, signaling an urgent call for protective intervention.

No independent verification of the threats has yet been made, and security authorities have not publicly responded.
