NUP Alleges Security Assault on Bobi Wine’s Residence as Vote Counting Continues

The National Unity Platform (NUP) has issued a sharp warning after its leader, President Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert, commonly known as Bobi Wine, faced a violent security breach at his home as vote counting continues following Thursday’s elections.

According to the party, regime security operatives deliberately cut off electricity to Bobi Wine’s residence and damaged the electric fence surrounding the property. 

NUP claims that the president’s private security personnel were violently attacked despite having committed no offenses.

“With the residence now under complete darkness, these operatives are attempting to forcibly break into the house, raising grave concerns about their intentions,” the party said in a statement.

The incident comes as tensions remain high across Kampala and other urban centres, where reports of irregularities and intimidation at polling stations have emerged. 

NUP has repeatedly called for transparency in the electoral process, warning that actions targeting the party’s leadership could escalate political instability.

Bobi Wine, a former musician turned politician, has in recent years become a central figure in Uganda’s opposition, challenging the long-standing administration of President Yoweri Museveni. 

Supporters of NUP have expressed alarm over the reported assault, viewing it as a direct attempt to intimidate both party leaders and voters.

As of Saturday morning, vote counting continues at multiple tally centres, with NUP closely monitoring developments. 

The party has urged the public and international observers to remain vigilant and called for the protection of democratic processes.
