Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has expressed deep sorrow following the death of Supreme Court Judge Mohammed Ibrahim, hailing him as a principled jurist whose service left a lasting mark on Kenya’s justice system.

In a condolence message, Matiang’i said Justice Ibrahim was widely respected for his integrity, professionalism, and unwavering loyalty to the Constitution.

He noted that the late judge played an important role in shaping Kenya’s jurisprudence, particularly on issues touching on the rule of law and constitutional governance.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Supreme Court Judge Justice Mohammed Ibrahim,” Matiang’i said. “He is remembered as a principled jurist who served the country with integrity, upheld fidelity to the Constitution, and helped shape our jurisprudence around the rule of law.”

Matiang’i extended his condolences to the judge’s family, friends, colleagues in the Judiciary, and Kenyans at large, saying the country had lost a dedicated public servant.

He prayed for strength and comfort for those affected by the loss during the difficult period of mourning.

Justice Ibrahim’s death has triggered an outpouring of tributes from leaders across the political and legal divide.

The Judiciary described him as a disciplined and committed judge whose work strengthened public confidence in the courts.

The Law Society of Kenya also mourned the judge, saying his passing was a major blow to the justice system.

Legal practitioners and colleagues have remembered him for his calm courtroom demeanour, respect for due process, and mentorship of young judicial officers.
