Bungoma County is in mourning as National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula bids farewell to his elder brother, James Mukhwana Wetang’ula.
The funeral is scheduled for Friday, 19th December 2025, at the family home in Tuuti, Kibabii.
In a heartfelt message on X, Wetang’ula described James as “the best brother anyone could ever have” and a lifelong friend.
He lauded his brother’s work in the education sector, where he mentored countless professionals and left a lasting impact.
The requiem mass at Kibabii Catholic Church, led by Rev. Fr. Protus Osyanju, brought together family, friends, and community members.
Wetang’ula highlighted the Church’s role in fostering unity and the importance of mentorship in creating greatness within a community.
James Mukhwana’s life was defined by service, honor, and distinction, the Speaker noted, adding that his brother’s legacy in education and community mentorship serves as an example for all.
“Fare thee well dear brother, may your soul rest in eternal peace,” Wetang’ula wrote, paying tribute to a life devoted to family, faith, and service.
The funeral is expected to attract prominent leaders and residents from Bungoma and beyond, all coming to honor a man described as selfless, dedicated, and exemplary in his contributions to society.
