Lawyer and political commentator Miguna Miguna has weighed in on the death of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo, urging Kenyans to draw cautionary lessons from the tragedy.

In a post on X, Miguna wrote: “There are only two lessons about Cyrus Jirongo’s death. First, don’t drink and drive. Second, live your life honestly and decently.”

Jirongo died in a head-on collision on the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway in the early hours of December 13, 2025, when his vehicle was struck by a Climax Company Ltd bus.

His death has sparked public speculation about the circumstances leading up to the crash, including unverified claims about his final movements and company prior to the accident.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has provided detailed updates as part of its ongoing probe.

Investigators recovered CCTV footage from a petrol station near the scene that captures the final seconds before the collision, showing Jirongo’s car exiting the station shortly before impact.

Reported Wreckage of Jirongo's Mercedes

The bus driver, identified as Tyrus Kamau Githinji, was released on cash bail pending further investigations into causing death by dangerous driving and is expected to report back to the Naivasha Traffic Base on December 22, 2025.

Detectives have also interviewed a petrol station night guard and fuel attendant and are tracing Jirongo’s movements earlier that night, including statements from people he met before the trip.

The DCI says the investigation remains active and that additional witness accounts will be recorded.
