Nairobi County Executive Committee (CEC) member for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service Geoffrey Mosiria has defended his past actions at Mbagathi Hospital, following accusations that he “snitched” on his seniors by reporting them to former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

In a detailed statement shared on X, Mosiria said his decision to speak out was driven by conscience, duty, and a commitment to justice amid what he described as widespread negligence at the county hospital.

He linked his actions to an increasing number of maternal and newborn deaths, which he blamed on lack of accountability and corruption within the system.

Mosiria rejected claims that he betrayed his bosses, insisting that remaining silent would have made him complicit.

He said the deaths at the hospital were not mere statistics but involved real families who lost wives, daughters, and children due to failures by those entrusted with patient care.

According to Mosiria, raising the alarm came at a high personal cost.

He claimed his life was put at risk and that there were attempts to intimidate and silence him after he questioned how the hospital was being run.

"There were plans to silence me, to eliminate me, to make me disappear. But God did not allow it. The same cartels that thought they were untouchable could only do one thing in the end run away. Call me a snitch if you must. History will call me brave," he said.

However, he said those he described as cartels eventually fled after scrutiny intensified.

The CEC member argued that his actions helped expose systemic rot and forced accountability where it had previously been absent.

He maintained that many lives may have been saved as a result of the issues he raised being addressed.

Mosiria acknowledged that whistleblowing is rarely popular, but said justice and truth often come with discomfort.

He said he chose humanity over fear and lives over personal loyalty, adding that he would make the same decision again if faced with similar circumstances.
