Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Tuesday raised pointed questions about National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula’s interactions with the late former cabinet minister Cyrus Jirongo during the latter’s burial in Lumakhanda, Kakamega.

Dr. Khalwale claimed that Wetangula was the last person seen with Jirongo at a club in Karen, Nairobi, and called for transparency on the nature of their engagements.

“Wetang’ula was the last person to have been with Jirongo at a club in Karen, and he has a lot to tell us,” Khalwale stated.

The senator also revealed that his office and Wetangula’s are located on the first floor of Parliament, where he frequently observed the speaker hosting Jirongo for meetings lasting 30 to 45 minutes.

“Tell us what kind of deals you were discussing and what transpired in those meetings,” Khalwale demanded, suggesting that the discussions could shed light on the circumstances surrounding Jirongo’s sudden death.

Khalwale further called attention to a meeting at the Karen Oasis, describing it as a key detail in understanding how Jirongo ultimately ended up in Naivasha.

“The Speaker should tell us about the Karen Oasis meeting because it is unrealistic how the late Jirongo ended up in Naivasha. We need to know the truth because he was going home,” he added.

Jirongo was buried on Tuesday at his Lumakhanda home. Several leaders graced the burial including former president Uhuru Kenyatta and Prime cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi among other leaders.
