Murang’a County Senator Joe Nyutu has raised fresh questions over the death of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo, saying key details surrounding the fatal crash remain unclear despite the release of autopsy findings.
Speaking on Citizen TV on Thursday, Nyutu said pathologists confirmed that Jirongo sustained injuries consistent with a road accident.
“The results released by the pathologists regarding Jirongo’s death are consistent with injuries sustained in a road accident, but questions still linger, particularly due to the absence of passenger accounts explaining what happened,” Nyutu said.
The senator argued that while medical findings are important, they do not fully explain the circumstances leading to the incident.
He called for investigators to provide a clearer account of the events, including details from those who may have been at the scene or involved in the journey.
Jirongo’s death shocked the country, with many Kenyans expressing grief and demanding transparency.
The former MP was a well-known political figure whose influence cut across business and politics.
So far, authorities have maintained that investigations are ongoing.
No additional details on passenger statements or further findings have been made public.
