Ruto’s constitutional advisor, Professor Makau Mutua, has issued a stern warning to Kenyans to exercise heightened caution during the festive season following the tragic death of former legislator Cyrus Jirongo in a road accident.
In a statement shared on Thursday, Mutua described December as a month often marked by misfortune on the roads.
“They say December is the festive season. Ironically, the Grim Reaper seems to love this month more than any other in the Gregorian Calendar. His macabre visits appear to occur with a terrifying frequency,” he noted.
Mutua urged all citizens to remain vigilant until the end of the year.
“I urge ALL to be extra careful and vigilant until he goes over the distant horizon,” he added, emphasizing the importance of road safety and responsible driving.
The advisory comes amid a period when traffic volumes typically increase, with many Kenyans traveling to join family celebrations.
Authorities have also heightened road safety campaigns, warning motorists and pedestrians alike to adhere to traffic regulations.
Jirongo’s death has reignited discussions on road safety, particularly during the festive season, highlighting the persistent risks on Kenya’s highways.
