Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto, describing his presidency as a “walking national disaster” and accusing the government of failing to deliver on key campaign promises.

Kabando aired his criticisms over the weekend in a post on X, Kenya’s leading social media platform.

Kabando revisited the 2022 election pledges, including affordable cooking gas, the construction of 1,000 dams, and the bottom-up economic model.

He claimed many promises were quietly abandoned or drastically scaled down, saying public patience has been tested by repeated delays.

“Leaders deliver. Conmen postpone. The first 100 days turned into six months, then a year, and now Kenyans are being told to wait 10 years for fairy tales about Singapore and Malaysia,” Kabando wrote.

He also criticised government spending priorities, highlighting increased NSSF deductions intended to fund infrastructure projects while public money is allegedly used for showy photo ops, churches, and promotional events.

Kabando called out the Arror and Kimwarer dam scandals, saying no promised water infrastructure has been delivered despite earlier commitments.

Kabando further condemned what he called the “staged” public events, including church gatherings, where he claims attendees are made to appear as supportive crowds rather than participants with genuine voices.

The former MP accused President Ruto of dismantling existing systems and replacing them with empty spectacles, arguing that the administration has focused more on theatrics than building functional institutions.

Government officials have previously defended the Kenya Kwanza administration, insisting that long-term economic reforms and infrastructure projects require time to take effect.
