Police have provided new details on the death of Evans Mwaura Githua, CEO of Nairobi-based ICT firm Com Twenty One Limited, highlighting the personal items found in the short-stay apartment where he spent his final hours.

Githua, 51, was found dead on December 23 behind Alba Apartments along Kasuku Road, having reportedly fallen from the 14th floor.

Authorities say he had checked into the apartment alone on December 22.

Upon entering the room, police documented an array of personal effects, including two mobile phones placed on flight mode, a wallet, clothes, and a bag containing various belongings.

Investigators also recovered an empty bottle of Bacardi, a can of Monster energy drink, a black flask with a clear liquid, a black flask containing a wet paste, xylocaine spray, a scalpel, a fork with residue, lemon water with a yellowish liquid, and two tablets.

Police noted that the items appeared to indicate preparations or actions linked to self-harm, as there were visible bloodstains across the bedsitter, wardrobe, washroom, and bed.

Officers believe Githua first inflicted cuts on his wrists before falling from the apartment window.

The apartment owner confirmed Githua had arrived alone, while family members had raised alarms when they could not reach him, which they said was unusual.

Police are treating the death as suspected suicide pending a post-mortem examination.

Githua’s death has sent shockwaves through Kenya’s technology sector.

Com Twenty One Limited is a leading ICT solutions and integration firm serving major public institutions and private companies across the country.
