Political strategist Pauline Njoroge has announced her intention to vie for a political seat in Nairobi County in the 2027 general election, citing the need for a new approach to city governance.
Speaking during an interview on Tuesday, Njoroge said current plans have failed to address the needs of residents.
“Nairobi needs a new plan; the pain that currently exists, or whatever those in power imagine is the plan, is not working for the people of Nairobi,” she said.
She added that she wants to be part of a leadership team focused on practical solutions and improved service delivery.
Njoroge did not specify the exact seat she intends to contest or the political party she will affiliate with, saying details will be communicated at a later date.
“Yes, I will be vying in Nairobi; I will communicate that in due time,” she stated.
Her remarks come amid growing debate over governance in Nairobi, where residents continue to raise concerns about public transport, housing, waste management, and access to basic services.
The capital city has faced persistent challenges linked to rapid urbanisation, strained infrastructure, and coordination between county and national authorities.
A well-known political strategist, Njoroge has previously worked behind the scenes in national politics and is recognised for her commentary on governance and public policy.
Her potential entry into elective politics adds to an expanding list of figures signalling interest in Nairobi seats ahead of the 2027 polls.
In the interview, Njoroge emphasised a people-centred approach, saying effective leadership must prioritise service delivery.
“We need a new plan for Nairobi, a plan that is people-focused and service-delivery-focused, and I want to be part of a team that actually delivers that plan,” she said.
For now, Njoroge’s declaration remains an expression of intent, with further details on her candidature expected in the coming months.
