“Our Freedom Must Be Protected" DP Kindiki Links Patriotism to Protecting Kenya’s Legacy of Freedom in Jamhuri Day Message

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki used his Jamhuri Day message to call on Kenyans to protect the freedom secured by the country’s independence heroes. 

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Deputy President said the national holiday remains a reminder of the sacrifices that shaped Kenya’s sovereignty.

Kindiki noted that Jamhuri Day should inspire citizens to recommit to unity, service and shared national ideals. 

He highlighted the obligation of every Kenyan to contribute to the country’s safety, stability and long-term prosperity.

The Deputy President described independence as a hard-won achievement that requires continuous vigilance. 

He urged Kenyans to acknowledge the contributions of the freedom fighters who laid the foundation for a self-governing nation, adding that the gains made over the decades must be safeguarded through collective responsibility.

In his statement, Kindiki emphasised the need for cohesion at a time when the country continues to confront social and economic pressures. 

He said unity remains central to national development and called for renewed patriotism as the country reflects on 61 years of self-rule.

“As we celebrate, let us recommit ourselves to unity, service and the pursuit of a safer, stronger and more prosperous Republic for all,” he said in the message shared on X. 

He added that Jamhuri Day provides an opportunity to deepen devotion to Kenya’s national values.

Kindiki, who also serves as the Deputy Party Leader of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), extended his Jamhuri Day greetings to all citizens, wishing the country continued peace and progress.

The Deputy President urged Kenyans to uphold the spirit of nationhood that has defined the country since independence.
