President William Ruto on Friday awarded some of Kenya’s top government officials with the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya, Second Class, Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (E.G.H.), in recognition of their service to the nation.

The ceremony took place at State House, Nairobi, as part of the Jamhuri Day celebrations.

Among those honoured was Attorney-General Dorcas Oduor, alongside Cabinet Secretaries William Kabogo Gitau (Information, Communications and the Digital Economy), Lee Kinyanjui (Trade and Industry), and Deborah Barasa (Environment, Climate Change and Forestry). Also recognised were Dr Pratt Kristina Kenyatta and Narok Governor Patrick ole Ntutu.

Speaking during the ceremony, President Ruto highlighted that the awards were a reflection of Kenya’s appreciation for diligence, integrity, and public service.

“These honours prove that hard work, honesty, and service do not go unnoticed. They speak about the value of doing what is right, putting the country first, and building a better Kenya for ourselves and future generations,” he said.

The Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya is one of the country’s highest civilian awards, reserved for individuals who have made outstanding contributions in leadership, governance, and development.

Recipients are chosen for their exceptional service and dedication to the nation.

Officials recognised on Friday have played significant roles in government policy, administration, and community development.

Attorney-General Oduor has been central to legal reforms, while the Cabinet Secretaries honoured have overseen key sectors affecting Kenya’s economy and environment. Dr Pratt Kenyatta and Governor Ntutu were acknowledged for their contributions in health and county leadership, respectively.

The awards come amid ongoing efforts by the government to promote accountability, integrity, and excellence in public service.
