Detectives probing the death of former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo have widened their investigations after raiding a popular hotel and restaurant along Magadi Road, Nairobi, where he is believed to have visited hours before the fatal incident.
Investigators confirmed that forensic analysis of Jirongo’s movements led them to Park Place Hotel, located in the Karen area off Magadi Road.
According to the inquiry team, evidence gathered placed the former MP at the establishment shortly before he was involved in the accident that claimed his life.
During the operation, detectives interrogated staff members at the hotel as part of efforts to establish who Jirongo met and what activities he engaged in during his visit.
The questioning focused on timelines, possible companions, and his state before departure.
However, the hotel’s management declined to comment on the matter when contacted.
Investigators believe Jirongo had earlier visited Oasis Restaurant in Karen before leaving the area.
From there, he is reported to have driven towards Langata Road before joining Magadi Road and later heading towards Park Road, where the accident occurred.
Officials involved in the probe said the latest developments were informed by a combination of forensic analysis, digital tracking, and tips received from members of the public.
They noted that the approach was aimed at reconstructing his final hours with precision.
Police clarified that no arrests were made during the raid and emphasized that the investigation remains open.
Detectives said they are continuing to piece together evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the former legislator’s death, urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
