Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka met with the leadership of the Kikuyu Council of Elders (KCE) at their headquarters in Kiambu on Friday, raising concerns over the management of Kenya’s strategic national assets.
The engagement included KCE Chairman Wachira Kiago and several council members, alongside Kalonzo’s team, including Wiper Deputy Chairperson Ann Kanyi, EALA MP Musyoka, his wife Doreen, and Machakos MCA Helen Ndeti.
The meeting, which coincided with the initiation of the KCE University and College Chapter, focused on pressing national issues.
Kalonzo emphasized values-based leadership, accountability, and the role of young people in safeguarding Kenya’s future.
“Kenya needs sober leadership, honest dialogue, and the courage to defend the public interest against recklessness and capture by narrow interests,” he stated.
A key topic of discussion was the proposed disposal of East African Portland Cement, which Kalonzo described as raising “serious questions about economic sovereignty, transparency, and the protection of public assets.”
The Wiper leader also highlighted the challenges facing Kenya’s education system, calling for policies that secure the future of the country’s youth.
Members of the KCE engaged in open dialogue with Kalonzo’s team, particularly the student representatives, stressing the importance of civic responsibility and active participation in national discourse.
The discussions reflected growing public concern over the perceived mismanagement of public resources and the need for stronger institutional oversight.
The meeting concluded with Kalonzo expressing gratitude for the opportunity to interact with the council at a critical moment in the nation’s history.
He urged continued collaboration between political leaders, elders, and young people to foster transparency, accountability, and economic stability.
