Former politician Cyrus Jirongo died from severe injuries in a road accident, an autopsy has confirmed. Family pathologist Dr. Joseph Ndung’u detailed the extent of the trauma in a report released on Wednesday.

According to Dr. Ndung’u, Jirongo suffered multiple fractures, including breaks in both legs and two fractures in his right hand.

His chest was crushed, with broken ribs and a perforated heart, while major blood vessels were ruptured, causing heavy internal bleeding.

The examination also showed serious abdominal injuries.

The liver was crushed, and bleeding had filled the abdominal cavity. Additionally, a spinal cord injury at the thoracic level contributed to his death.

“The late Cyrus Jirongo died from crush injuries to the chest, abdomen, and spinal cord due to blunt force trauma,” Dr. Ndung’u confirmed.

Jirongo, once a prominent political figure, gained national attention as leader of the Youth for KANU 2002 movement.

He later ran for parliamentary and gubernatorial posts, leaving a mark in Kenya’s political arena.

Road accidents remain a major safety concern in Kenya, claiming thousands of lives each year.

The findings of this autopsy highlight just how deadly high-impact collisions can be, even for public figures.

Authorities have not disclosed the circumstances of the crash, but the autopsy report provides a clear picture of the injuries that led to Jirongo’s death.
