In a heartfelt post on X, lawyer Natty revealed her decision to step away from the legal profession after failing the recent Kenya School of Law (KSL) bar exams.

“I failed my bar exams. I didn't get any P. I don't wish to do them again and I no longer want to be an advocate,” she wrote, describing her journey as one of struggle and disappointment.

The November 2025 ATP examinations saw only 397 out of 1,834 candidates pass, highlighting the growing difficulty of Kenya’s bar exams.

While ATP 104 – Trial Advocacy – recorded the highest pass rate at 97.49%, ATP 105 – Professional Ethics – once again lagged behind at just 25.38%.

CLE expressed concern over the consistent low performance in Professional Ethics, marking it the third consecutive exam with the lowest results.

Natty thanked friends and supporters for their encouragement throughout her journey, but made it clear she will not attempt resits.

Her words, “I will alight at the first stop and wait for a bus that takes a different route,” suggest a shift toward a new career path beyond advocacy.

Her post has sparked conversations across Kenya, with many sympathizing with the immense pressure law students face.

Natty’s story reveals the emotional and academic toll of the bar exams, and serves as a reminder of the challenges within Kenya’s legal education system.

For now, she is choosing a fresh start, leaving behind a path that so many dream of but few successfully navigate.
