A Kenyan woman, Haluwa, recently took to Facebook to share a humorous story about how a seemingly innocent investment in her boyfriend’s house—a chapati rolling stick—led to the end of their relationship.
Haluwa revealed that the rolling stick was the biggest investment she had ever made with her own money for a man’s household.
However, the relationship took a surprising turn when she discovered one day that the stick had been hidden away in a suitcase on top of the closet.
“It turns out we were both living like workers in an EPZ,” Haluwa joked. “Whenever the other person came over, all my things would be hidden to make the house look like default mode. And when I visited his place, his things were hidden too.”
Haluwa ended her post with a playful warning, highlighting the quirks of dating: “Anyway, if you hear a Luhya man being slapped somewhere, just call me to add the chapati rolling stick into the story!”
Her post has since gone viral, drawing laughter and sympathy from thousands of social media users who could relate to the unexpected drama in relationships
