Rumours of an imminent political fallout around Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna have intensified following claims that he could be pushed out of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership.
The speculation was fueled by remarks from KANU’s digital communications director, Cornelius Ronoh, who alleged on X that Sifuna’s days as ODM Secretary General and Deputy Minority Whip may be numbered.
Ronoh claimed that unnamed sources suggest the senator is facing an internal ouster, linking the alleged move to his open criticism of President William Ruto’s administration and his opposition to the broad-based government arrangement.
According to Ronoh, the situation has reportedly unsettled staff members working in Sifuna’s Senate office, amid fears of political consequences should the rumours materialise.
"I don’t think Edwin Sifuna is ready or bold enough to finish what he started. Reliable sources say he is in the final days before being ousted as ODM Secretary General and Deputy Minority Whip. His staff members at the Senate are already scared," Ronoh stated on X.
Sifuna, who has positioned himself as one of the more vocal critics of the Ruto regime from within the opposition, has not publicly responded to the claims.
ODM leadership has also remained silent, leaving the party’s supporters and political observers speculating on possible internal tensions.
For now, the allegations remain unverified, but they have reignited debate over dissent within ODM and the future of outspoken party figures.
