New details of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo’s business engagements surfaced on Saturday during his memorial service in Nairobi, revealing that the late politician had pursued significant cross-border ventures with Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Jubilee Party Vice National Chairperson David Murathe, speaking at the service, described Jirongo as a strategic thinker who could turn ideas into high-value proposals.

“Give him a pen and paper and he could craft a multimillion-dollar deal,” Murathe said, noting that Jirongo had explored several projects, both domestic and international.

According to Murathe, Jirongo’s portfolio included discussions on the reconstruction of Libya, a real estate project in Ruai, and business initiatives in environmental carbon credits involving Museveni.

While not all ventures were realised, Murathe emphasized that they reflected Jirongo’s forward-looking vision and entrepreneurial mindset.

Murathe further highlighted Jirongo’s deep commitment to Kenya, saying his initiatives were rooted in the pursuit of national stability and development.

“Above all, he loved this country and wanted stability and visionary leadership,” Murathe told the congregation.

The memorial service drew political leaders, family members, and close associates, many of whom recalled Jirongo’s influence as both a politician and a businessman.

His ability to navigate complex deals and foster regional partnerships underscored his unique role in East African political and economic circles.

Jirongo, who passed away earlier this month, served as Lugari MP and remained an active participant in national political discussions even after leaving elective office.

Murathe’s revelations added a business dimension to Jirongo’s public persona, showing that his engagements extended beyond politics to regional economic collaboration.

The accounts presented at the memorial provide insight into how Jirongo leveraged personal relationships with regional leaders, including Museveni, to explore opportunities that could impact Kenya’s development and foster cross-border partnerships.
