Popular social media personality, YouTuber, and content creator Presenter Kai recently recounted a humorous yet frustrating post-college story that shows just how far his father went to get him a job—only for it to fail.
Kai revealed that after college, his father was called for “tea”—a euphemism for a bribe—at a media house in Mombasa, with the promise that it could secure Kai a job.
Lacking cash, his father sent two live chickens instead as a goodwill gesture.
The pair traveled to Mombasa, handed over the roosters to the media house manager, and were promised that Kai would be called the following week to start work.
Weeks later, Kai took to social media to reveal he is still waiting for the job call.
“Mdosi” wa hiyo media house akachukua jogoo wawili akamuahidi dad kwamba ningeitwa the following week kuanza kazi. Bado nangoja hadi leo niitiwe kazi. Jamaa alikula kuku na kazi sikupewa. Mungu amlinde babangu afurahie matunda na juhudi alituekea,” he wrote, sharing the story with his followers.
The post has since gone viral, resonating with young Kenyans facing post-college job frustrations, while highlighting the extraordinary lengths parents will go to help their children.
