Kenya’s Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has praised the Bomas International Convention Complex (BICC) as a game-changer for the country’s international profile.

The facility has already been booked to host the France Africa Summit on 12 May 2026, months before construction is completed.

CS Miano called the Bomas project a strategic move to make Kenya a leading MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination in Africa.

“Bomas International Convention Complex is one of our key strategic steps towards enhancing Kenya’s global visibility in the competitive international events market,” she said.

She described the BICC as an ultra-modern, state-of-the-art facility that will be the largest in the region, capable of hosting world-class events and international delegations.

The early summit booking highlights the government’s confidence in Kenya’s infrastructure and readiness to host major events.

“MICE tourism is growing fast and brings huge economic and diplomatic benefits. Hosting such a summit before the center is even complete shows Kenya is ready to shine on the global stage,” CS Miano added.

The Tourism Ministry continues to market the country under the banner “Magical Kenya, the Origin of Wonder,” promoting both the cultural and business appeal of the nation.

Bomas is expected to become a hub for conferences, exhibitions, and high-profile diplomatic engagements, attracting thousands of visitors and investors.

Construction is underway around the clock, with thousands of workers on site daily, keeping the project on track for its April 2026 completion.

The announcement has sparked excitement, with industry insiders predicting that Bomas will soon place Nairobi at the center of Africa’s international events calendar.
