Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has welcomed Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale’s endorsement of Seth Panyako as a major boost for the party ahead of the Malava parliamentary by-election set for November 27, 2025.
In a statement on X, Wamalwa described Khalwale’s move as “a game changer” in both local and national politics, saying it marked a new chapter of unity within the Mulembe Nation.
He lauded the senator as one of the most “principled, courageous, consistent and consequential politicians” in Western Kenya and the country at large.
“Thank you my brother Dr. Boni Khalwale for your powerful endorsement. We have walked this journey with you and the late Masinde Muliro and Michael Wamalwa Kijana,” Wamalwa wrote, linking their political partnership to the region’s liberation legacy.
The former Defence Cabinet Secretary said the alliance aims not only to secure victory in Malava but also to restore the “dignity and lost glory” of the Luhya community in national politics.
He also hinted at broader ambitions, stating that he will carry the DAP-K and Western Kenya flag in the 2027 presidential election.
The endorsement comes as political temperatures rise in Kakamega County following the declaration of the Malava parliamentary seat vacant.
Panyako, a former nurses’ union leader and a vocal critic of the Kenya Kwanza administration, is expected to face stiff competition from UDA and ODM candidates.
