The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has collected KSh 69.7 million from a public auction of properties confiscated from former Migori Governor Okoth Obado and ex-Nairobi County Treasury Head Stephen Ogaga Osiro.
The auction took place on October 9, 2025, following court rulings authorizing the disposal of assets linked to corruption.
In a statement on Thursday, EACC said the five Nairobi-based properties formed part of ten assets recovered through two cases—Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Suit No. 20 of 2018 and Suit No. 10 of 2021.
The Commission confirmed that all the properties were sold at prices above their valuation reserve, reflecting strong public participation in the exercise.
Among the properties auctioned were a Riara Apartment that fetched KSh 14 million and a Loresho Ridge townhouse sold for KSh 31 million, the highest bid of the day.
Other units at Greenspan Estate were sold at between KSh 6.75 million and KSh 11 million, bringing the total to KSh 69,705,000.
EACC explained that the funds generated from the auction will be deposited into the Consolidated Fund, in accordance with Section 56C of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act.
“All proceeds from the sale of recovered assets shall be deposited into the Consolidated Fund,” the statement read.
The anti-graft agency also announced that five remaining properties located in Migori and Kisumu counties will go under the hammer on October 16, 2025.
Members of the public have been encouraged to take part in the upcoming auction.
EACC reaffirmed its determination to pursue and recover illegally acquired wealth from public officials.
“The Commission remains committed to ensuring that perpetrators of corruption and economic crimes do not benefit from their ill-gotten wealth,” it stated.
The recovery and sale of the properties are part of ongoing national efforts to reclaim public resources lost through graft and strengthen accountability in public office.
