Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has called on Kenyans to ignore unverified online reports about his health, describing them as “propaganda” that distracts from pressing national issues.

ODM communications director Philip Etale shared on X on Tuesday afternoon that Raila was in high spirits during a brief phone conversation.

“I have spoken with HE Raila Odinga just under five minutes ago. He is jovial and happy. ‘I am seeing people spreading so much propaganda online, let’s keep praying for them,’ he says,” Etale posted.

Raila also asked Etale to convey greetings to all Kenyans and promised to resume public engagements in the coming days.

The clarification follows a statement from Raila’s team on Sunday, which explained that the former prime minister had been abroad on private engagements, downplaying speculation about illness.

“Mr. Odinga is in good health. Claims that he was flown to Europe for treatment are baseless and malicious,” Raila's spokesperson Dennis Onyango stated on Sunday.

In the past few days, there have been rumours and speculations about Raila Odinga's whereabouts and health condition.

However, the statement by Raila's team on Sunday was meant to quell the online stories about his health.
