Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has renewed his criticism of ODM members supporting the broad-based government, accusing them of political hypocrisy and betrayal of Raila Odinga’s long-standing reform legacy.
Amisi’s remarks followed Gideon Moi’s Friday announcement that KANU would join President William Ruto’s broad-based government.
The move triggered mixed reactions within the opposition, with some ODM figures welcoming it as a chance for inclusivity, while others saw it as the death of genuine opposition politics.
In a message on X, Amisi took issue with colleagues who had previously attacked Moi and the Standard Media Group—both known for their tough stance on the Ruto administration before softening their position.
“There are ODM broad-based choir masters who were fighting Standard Media and Gideon Moi as if they manufactured Covid-19, wataambia nini watu,” he wrote.
He warned that ODM’s enthusiasm for joining the government was short-sighted and risked eroding the party’s credibility.
“The excitement of my ODM colleagues in broad-based is the major undoing. By the time games are played on you, Kenyans will have moved on,” he cautioned.
Amisi went further to accuse unnamed party members of compromising Odinga’s four-decade legacy for personal interests.
“Dear ODM tenderpreneurs, you have spoiled Baba’s legacy of 40 years. Shame on you! Kenya needs a renaissance,” he stated.
His sentiments mirror growing unease among ODM loyalists who fear the party’s cooperation with Ruto’s government could weaken its watchdog role and alienate its grassroots supporters.
