"Maasai Nation Will Miss You": Ledama Olekina Honors Odinga's Support at Bondo Burial

During the state funeral of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in Bondo, Narok Senator Ledama Olekina delivered a heartfelt tribute, emphasizing Odinga's unwavering commitment to national unity and support for marginalized communities.

Speaking to thousands of mourners, Olekina recalled Odinga's pivotal role in advocating for the Maasai community's land rights.

"The Maasai nation will miss you because you stood with us when we were fighting for our land rights," he stated, highlighting Odinga's dedication to social justice.

Reflecting on a personal conversation following the 2007 election, Olekina shared, "Baba called me the day we lost the election in Bomas and said, 'My son, what is important is the unity of this country and our victory has just been delayed.'"

He further noted that Odinga's vision for a broad-based government set a precedent for inclusive leadership.
