David Maraga Presents Two Bulls to Raila Odinga Family in Traditional Tribute

Former Chief Justice and presidential hopeful David Maraga, accompanied by a delegation of local elders and supporters, visited the home of the late Raila Odinga to pay respects and offer condolences to the bereaved Jaramogi family.

During the visit, Maraga presented two bulls to the family in a traditional ceremony, honoring both cultural practice and the late leader’s legacy.

Maraga described the gesture as an expression of sympathy, grief, goodwill, and solidarity.

He noted that the bulls would help support the family’s food needs amid numerous visitors arriving to pay tribute.

“The animals are a gesture of care, now and for the future, reflecting bonds of affection and community,” he stated.

Addressing the family, Maraga said, “It was a privilege to share this sacred and significant moment with the Odinga family. Despite his own anguish, Dr. Oburu Odinga welcomed us warmly, allowing us to convey our love and respect.”

The former chief justice also reflected on the broader cultural significance of the occasion. He highlighted the importance of honoring Kenya’s rich community-building traditions and using these experiences to foster unity and social cohesion.

“The moment offered a glimpse into our need to cherish and make use of our immense, cultural heritage,” he noted.

The gesture by Maraga follows several tributes from political leaders, elders, and community figures who have sought to honor Raila Odinga’s contribution to Kenya’s democracy, particularly his role in shaping the country’s Constitution.
