Journalist and digital creator Lynn Ngugi has once again stirred public debate after boldly questioning President William Ruto’s growing ties with Western institutions.
In a statement posted on X, Ngugi said her criticism of the government’s close relationship with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Global Centre on Adaptation was driven by a desire for transparency, not politics.
Ngugi claimed that the government’s decision to quietly grant diplomatic-style immunity to the Global Centre on Adaptation raised serious accountability concerns.
She accused the Ruto administration of surrendering Kenya’s sovereignty to powerful foreign interests under the guise of global cooperation.
“I see my recent posts on Bill Gates, the Gates Foundation, and how Ruto’s government secretly granted diplomatic-style immunity to the Global Centre on Adaptation have ruffled some feathers. But let me make one thing clear, I’m not going anywhere," the vocal journalist said.
Ngugi maintained that her criticism was not personal but a stand for truth and accountability.
“Ruto is not just a fool, he’s a willing tool of the West. Call me a tribalist, call me whatever you like, I honestly don’t care. I will keep speaking the truth, because silence is exactly what they want,” she said.
The outspoken journalist has increasingly used her platform to highlight issues of governance, inequality, and foreign influence in Kenya.
