Kerala Doctors Who Treated Raila Join Odinga Family in Kenya for Final Tributes

A delegation of doctors from India’s Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Hospital in Kerala has arrived in Kenya alongside Rosemary Odinga, the daughter of the late opposition leader Raila Amolo Odinga, to pay their final respects.

The team was received in Mombasa by Governor Abdulswamad Nassir on Thursday.

Governor Nassir confirmed the visit through a post on social media, describing it as a gesture of respect for a man whose influence stretched beyond national boundaries.

He said the doctors had accompanied Rosemary Odinga to Kenya to honor the memory of the late leader, who had been receiving treatment at their facility before his death.

“They are in Kenya to pay their final respects to a man whose life and legacy transcended borders,” Nassir stated. “The global outpouring of love for Baba reflects his extraordinary journey—one defined by courage, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to justice and humanity.”

Raila Odinga, who passed away in India earlier this month at the age of 80, had long been a central figure in Kenya’s political history.

His passing prompted tributes from across the world, with international leaders, local politicians, and ordinary citizens remembering him for his role in advancing democracy and human rights.

In recent days, thousands of Kenyans have attended memorial services and vigils in various parts of the country, including Bondo and Nairobi.

The presence of the Kerala doctors has added a global touch to the mourning period, symbolizing how Odinga’s life connected people beyond Kenya’s borders.

Governor Nassir urged Kenyans to continue embodying the values the former prime minister stood for.

“May his spirit continue to inspire us to build the Kenya he dreamed of—united, just, and full of hope,” he said.
