KANU MP Naisula Lesuuda Presses Gideon Moi to Address Party Faithful After Withdrawal

Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda has urged KANU chairman Gideon Moi to come out and address his supporters following his decision to withdraw from the Baringo senatorial by-election.

In a candid message shared on Facebook, Lesuuda said the party’s members and supporters deserved communication from their leader after days of speculation over Moi’s political move.

She noted that while the decision not to contest was personal, the silence surrounding it had left many within KANU feeling neglected and unheard.

“The choice to run or not to run for the Baringo senatorial seat is purely your personal decision since you must have done introspection despite the many voices you have listened to,” Lesuuda wrote.

“My only concern, and of many who have believed in you and the party, is your choice not to give direction and not to communicate on time your decisions," she stated.

Her remarks came a day after Moi, the KANU chairman and former Baringo Senator, reportedly met with President William Ruto before withdrawing from the race, ending weeks of uncertainty about his political intentions.

Lesuuda, one of KANU’s most prominent elected leaders, appealed to Moi to engage his supporters directly and lead with empathy.

She said party members had stood by him through difficult times and deserved to feel included in major decisions affecting the future of the independence-era party.

“Chairman, address your supporters about your decision. Lead with empathy, carry us along. Wakurusha mawe warushe, hii Kenya ni yetu sisi wote, and all voices must be heard. We must be tolerant of each other," she added.
