Inside Moha Jicho Pevu’s Tea Meeting: What Gachagua and Kalonzo’s Sit-Down Reveals About 2027 Politics

Nyali MP Mohamed Ali, popularly known as Jicho Pevu, has once again thrust himself into the political spotlight after hosting a private meeting with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

The meeting, captured in a photo shared by Ali on X, has sparked intense speculation within political circles, with many interpreting it as part of a wider behind-the-scenes conversation about Kenya’s 2027 political landscape.

Ali’s post, which read, “Some things are better left unannounced, because they are meant to be discovered. Happy to be sipping tea in the company of great, wise men,” left Kenyans guessing about the real purpose behind the gathering.

Though the Nyali legislator did not disclose details, the presence of both Gachagua and Kalonzo—two leaders from opposing political camps—has fueled talk of shifting alliances.

Shortly after the meeting, Gachagua praised Ali for his “brilliant leadership mind” and hinted at mentoring him as a future political force in the Coast region.

“Moha is one of the young, talented leaders whom I am mentoring. He has great ideas on how to mobilise the Coast region for meaningful change,” Gachagua wrote.

Kalonzo, on his part, remained silent on the discussions, further deepening curiosity over what might have been discussed.

With Gachagua’s recent political resurgence and Kalonzo’s steady push to remain relevant ahead of 2027, Ali’s decision to meet both leaders simultaneously has positioned him at the centre of an unfolding political puzzle that could reshape alliances in the coming years.
