Governor Anne Waiguru Celebrates Father-in-Law’s 90th Birthday in Kirinyaga

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru hosted family, friends, and local leaders to celebrate her father-in-law’s 90th birthday over the weekend. 

The event brought together several county and regional leaders in honor of Mwalimu Waiganjo, whom Waiguru described as a lifelong teacher and community leader.

The celebration, held in Kirinyaga, was attended by Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata, Kirinyaga Deputy Governor David Githanda, Kirinyaga Central MP Gachoki Gitari, County Assembly Speaker Muteti Murimi, Majority Leader Benson Ngahu, and Chief Whip Muriithi Kibinga. 

The leaders joined Waiguru’s family to mark the milestone in a colorful gathering that highlighted Mwalimu Waiganjo’s contribution to education and community development.

In a post shared on X, Waiguru expressed her gratitude for being part of the occasion, calling it a blessing to celebrate the nonagenarian’s remarkable life. 

“It was such a blessing to celebrate my father-in-law’s 90th birthday with my family, various leaders and many friends. Mwalimu Waiganjo has been a lifelong teacher, a community leader, and a transformative family man. Happy 90th, Dad!” she wrote.

The governor’s message drew warm reactions from Kenyans online, with many congratulating the family and commending Waiganjo’s legacy in shaping generations through teaching. 

The event also reflected the close ties between Kirinyaga’s political leadership and the community.

Mwalimu Waiganjo’s recognition as a respected educator and mentor mirrors the values that continue to influence leadership in the region.
