Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has broken his silence following accusations from Raila Odinga’s camp that he has been spreading false claims about the ODM leader’s health.
During a Sunday night interview on KTN News, Gachagua dismissed the allegations as baseless, saying they were crafted to stir unnecessary political tension.
He maintained that he holds no grudge against Raila and wishes him nothing but good health.
“I have never wished Raila bad health. In fact, I always pray that God gives him a long and healthy life,” Gachagua said. “If he chooses to work with President Ruto in 2027, that would even make me happier because we would beat them together, politically speaking.”
His comments came hours after Raila’s spokesperson, Denis Onyango, publicly cautioned politicians against spreading what he termed as “false and sensational claims” about Raila’s well-being.
Onyango specifically mentioned Gachagua among those accused of misleading the public, clarifying that the ODM leader is in good health and actively following national developments while abroad.
The back-and-forth between the two camps comes amid heightened speculation about Raila’s health and political plans as the country edges closer to the 2027 general election.
While Gachagua sought to portray himself as misunderstood, his comments add a new layer to the ongoing narrative surrounding Raila’s future and the uneasy relationship between Kenya Kwanza and the Azimio coalition.
