Gachagua Hints at 2027 Political Comeback, Says Coast Will Lead Kenya’s Next Revolution

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s weekend meeting with Nyali MP Mohamed Ali has stirred political curiosity, with his remarks pointing to what appears to be the early stages of a political comeback.

In a statement on X, Gachagua said he was “thankful to God” for the full recovery of his “great friend” Mohamed Ali, who had been battling a knee injury for nearly a year.

But beyond the message of goodwill, Gachagua’s post carried a deeper political undertone — one that positioned Ali as a central figure in what he termed the liberation of the Coast region.

According to Gachagua, the Coast has long suffered from betrayal and neglect, especially over land ownership and economic exclusion.

He accused unnamed “saboteurs” of crippling key sectors such as education and health, saying the 2027 election would be the turning point for both the region and the country.

“Moha is one of the young, talented leaders whom I am mentoring,” Gachagua said, describing the Nyali MP as a visionary with “great ideas for mobilising the Coast region.”

His open support for Mohamed Ali — one of the few Coast leaders allied to him — signals an attempt to reassert his influence in national politics.

“The pain and anguish will come to an end on the ballot in August 2027,” Gachagua declared, hinting that the former deputy president may be plotting a new political chapter — one anchored on regional empowerment and redemption from what he calls years of misrule.
