Mombasa’s most feared drink-spiker has finally been cornered — and what police found in his bag left passengers shaken.
Detectives say Abdallah Suleiman, better known as Asuu, had perfected the art of hunting unsuspecting travellers on long-distance buses.
His trick was simple but deadly: snacks and sodas secretly laced with sedatives. Once victims blacked out, he would sweep away their money, phones, and valuables.
For months, terrified passengers from Mombasa, Kisumu, and even across the Tanzanian border reported chillingly similar ordeals. But Asuu always slipped through the cracks — until Sunday night.
His luck ran out at Mariakani Weighbridge when hawk-eyed officers stopped a Nairobi-bound bus. Suspicious passengers tipped off detectives about his behaviour, sparking a dramatic takedown.
Inside his bag, police discovered what looked like an ordinary traveller’s stash — but was anything but. Hidden among snacks and soft drinks were Lorivan 2 sedative tablets, a key ingredient in his robbery mission. Investigators believe the items were already prepared for his next round of victims.
The DCI branded him a “crafty operator,” a man who blended effortlessly with crowds while plotting to drug and strip them of everything.
His arrest marks a big win against the wave of stupefying attacks that have plagued long-distance buses.
Asuu is cooling his heels in custody and will soon face court.
Police have warned travellers: never accept food or drinks from strangers and report any suspicious behaviour immediately.
