Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has marked a new milestone in his personal and academic journey after graduating with a Master of Arts in International Relations from the United States International University (USIU–Africa).
In a statement shared on X, Amisi reflected on his remarkable path from humble beginnings to academic success.
He recalled joining Starehe Boys’ Centre 25 years ago with nothing but a padlock after excelling in the 2000 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams.
As an orphan with limited means, the institution became his refuge and stepping stone to higher learning.
“Today, that same boy graduates as the top student in the Master of Arts in International Relations program at USIU, amidst a convoluted political environment and the highly demanding pressures of public service,” Amisi wrote.
The legislator, who has served Saboti constituency since 2017, credited his journey to faith and resilience, noting that circumstances of birth should not define one’s future.
“We don’t choose where, when, or to whom we are born — but we certainly have the power to choose our own destiny,” he stated, adding that his story should inspire others facing hardship.
Amisi’s message resonated widely online, with supporters praising his determination and commitment to education despite the demands of active politics.
He urged Kenyans, particularly the youth, to embrace hard work and hope, stressing that “if I can do it, you can surely do it.”
Concluding his statement, the MP called for a national renewal anchored on education and opportunity. “Kenya needs a renaissance,” he said.
