Drama unfolded in Suswa, Narok County, after detectives swooped in on two men ferrying a massive haul of cannabis sativa in a sleek Nissan X-Trail.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the Monday evening sting operation was mounted by a joint team from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) and the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU).
The officers, acting on intelligence, cornered the suspects at Suswa Shopping Centre, stopping the vehicle registered as KDP 353U.
Inside, investigators uncovered nine huge sacks stuffed with cannabis, packed so tightly that the car’s interior looked more like a moving warehouse.
The suspects, identified as James Nyaikondo and Jackson Nyaikondo, were handcuffed on the spot as stunned locals watched. Police say the brothers were on a distribution run when their plans came crashing down.
“The suspects are in custody as their case is being processed for arraignment. The vehicle and the narcotics have been secured as exhibits pending further investigations,” the DCI confirmed in a statement.
The bust highlights Narok’s growing role as a drug transit hub, with traffickers taking advantage of the county’s strategic highways to sneak narcotics across regions.
Authorities warn that the trade is fueling crime and destroying young lives.
Police have now intensified surveillance along key routes and are urging the public to remain alert and report suspicious movements.
