Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has gone for the jugular, blasting former Chief Justice and presidential aspirant David Maraga over reports he refused to give transport money to youths who attended his town hall meeting.
In a post on X, Kaluma branded Maraga a “joker,” accusing him of pocketing more than Sh5 million every month in retirement perks while allegedly being too stingy to help stranded youths.
“This joker takes home over Ksh.5 million in retirement benefits every month, but he is too mean to give youths fare. He loiters around with Kenyan women whose children died pretending he is seeking compensation but opposes compensation team and arrangement instituted by the Broad Based Government! Bure sana!” Kaluma stated.
The MP didn’t stop there. He claimed Maraga was exploiting grieving families for political mileage while rubbishing official compensation programs.
Disgruntled youths who turned up at the town hall are said to have expected at least some facilitation but reportedly walked away empty-handed.
Maraga, who has been holding grassroots forums across the country as he eyes a presidential run, has defended his meetings as citizen engagement platforms.
But Kaluma’s attack has thrown fresh spotlight on the former CJ’s political style, painting him as out of touch with the same voters he is trying to woo.
