Kalonzo Fires Back on Plans to Be Ruto's Deputy in 2027: “I’ll Never Be Ruto’s Running Mate”

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has come out swinging against claims that he could be warming up to President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 polls.

In a fiery interview on Citizen TV Wednesday night, the former Vice President dismissed whispers that he might take up a government job or even run as Ruto’s deputy.

“No way, not Kalonzo Musyoka. I will not take any job. There hasn’t been an offer and I hope there will be none. I choose to be with the Kenyan people, I will never betray Kenyans,” he declared.

His blunt response comes as the political scene heats up with shifting alliances and backroom deals two years to the General Election.

Kalonzo, who stood beside Raila Odinga as his running mate in the 2022 Azimio ticket, insisted his eyes are set on challenging Ruto directly.

“I have made it very clear, never. There is no such thing and it will not happen. It will be William Ruto versus Kalonzo Musyoka, God willing,” he said firmly.

The statement now clears the air on weeks of speculation and positions Kalonzo as one of the key opposition figures determined to take on Ruto in 2027.

By ruling out any handshake or power deal with the Kenya Kwanza side, Kalonzo is also sending a strong message to his supporters that he remains loyal to the opposition camp.

With two years left to the ballot, his latest vow sets the stage for a bruising showdown that could redraw Kenya’s political map.
