Lawyer Miguna Miguna has warned former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua against publicly discussing confidential information allegedly obtained from within government, saying the remarks could expose civil servants and security officers to danger.
Miguna criticised Gachagua’s recent claims that he has been receiving inside information from officials, including individuals working in the President’s office.
Gachagua had said the disclosures were coming from “patriotic” officers unhappy with how the country is being run.
Miguna said referring to such communication in public risks revealing the identities of those involved.
“Mr. Rigathi Gachagua: When you read messages purportedly sent to you by police officers, you unwittingly expose them to great danger,” he said.
He warned that state agencies with access to communication systems could trace the origin of the messages and identify the individuals behind them.
“Your colleagues in the NIS, Communications Authority and service providers who have access to your telephone lines will trace your messages and give William Ruto’s abductors and murderers the names,” Miguna added.
He urged the former deputy president to exercise caution, saying the statements could have serious consequences.
“Stop the recklessness. Don’t sacrifice innocent Kenyans for cheap political gain,” he said.
Gachagua, speaking earlier at his Wamunyoro residence while hosting a delegation from Subukia Constituency, said he would not reveal his sources. He compared his network to the Mau Mau resistance, saying it operates in secrecy.
“You will never know who is giving me this information. Riggy G is Mau Mau. We organise ourselves like Mau Mau, and Mau Mau works in secrecy,” he said.
His remarks have drawn criticism from leaders allied to President William Ruto, who have questioned the implications of alleged leaks from within government.
The Presidency has not issued a response to the latest exchange. However, government officials have previously dismissed similar claims as politically driven.
The dispute adds to growing tensions between Gachagua and leaders in the Kenya Kwanza administration, with his statements continuing to draw attention over claims of internal dissent within government ranks.
