Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed he is receiving a steady flow of confidential information from within President William Ruto’s administration, escalating tensions between him and the Kenya Kwanza government.
Speaking on Thursday, August 6 at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County, where he hosted a delegation from Subukia Constituency, Gachagua said a network of disillusioned insiders had been voluntarily sharing sensitive details about government operations.
He told the gathering that the sources include civil servants, security officers and officials working in key state institutions, some of whom are allegedly stationed within the President’s office.
“Civil servants are looking for me every day. Even the other day, people inside the President’s office told me about the Vision 2060 announcement before it was made public,” Gachagua said.
The former deputy president framed the disclosures as an act of patriotism by state officers who, according to him, are dissatisfied with how the country is being run.
He claimed the trend had intensified in recent weeks, suggesting growing internal unease within government ranks.
Gachagua, who now leads the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), further stated that the identities of his sources would remain protected, invoking a comparison with the Mau Mau resistance movement.
“You will never know who is giving me this information. Riggy G is Mau Mau. We organise ourselves like Mau Mau, and Mau Mau works in secrecy,” he said.
His remarks add a new dimension to earlier claims he made about having prior knowledge of President Ruto’s July 30 national address, in which the Head of State outlined a long-term development agenda.
Gachagua had previously suggested he was aware of the plan before it was publicly unveiled, attributing the information to insiders within government.
