A Kenyan family has been forced to leave their newly built home after a frightening incident involving a swarm of bees, following a disagreement over a Ksh 630,000 debt.

According to John Kamau, the trouble began after he borrowed Ksh 630,000 from his friend in 2025 to help complete the construction of his house. He says that after delays in repaying the money, the relationship between the two friends became strained.

Kamau says that during a recent confrontation, his friend demanded repayment and gave him two months — June and July — to settle the debt, warning that failure to do so would have consequences.

“I thought it was a joke when he told me, ‘Kamau unanichezea na ni heri urafiki ifike kikomo juu ya pesa yangu,’” Kamau said.

He added that his friend threatened him that he will use every available means to ensure he would not have peace, including seeking help from a traditional healer.

“Aliniambia atatumia njia zote, hata kama ni kutumia daktari wa kienyeji, na ati alikuwa ashapata namba ya Dr Bokko +25469404965,” he claimed.

Kamau said he initially dismissed the threats, believing they were just words spoken during an argument between friends.

“Sikujua rafiki amefika mwisho. Nilidhani ni maneno tu ya hasira, kumbe mambo yalikuwa yamekuwa makubwa,” he explained.

According to Kamau, the situation changed when bees began surrounding their home.

“When I saw bees attack our home, that is when I realised how serious it was. Ukienda kitandani unazipata, bathroom zipo, kila sehemu zilikuwa na nyuki. I had to pick up my family and leave the home we had built and rent somewhere else,” he said.
