Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has sharply criticised Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale following his remarks on the recent Ol Kalou by-election, escalating political tensions within the Kenya Kwanza camp.

In a response, Wamuchomba faulted Duale for attempting to deflect blame after UDA’s defeat, insisting the party must accept the outcome rather than shift focus to former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“My senior CS Aden Duale, you are out of order! Accept the reality that UDA was squarely defeated in Ol Kalou,” she stated.

The MP accused Duale of engaging in “defeatist” politics by attacking Uhuru Kenyatta, including referring to him as “Mkabila,” a label she said was inappropriate given Duale’s past association with the former Head of State.

Wamuchomba pointed out that Duale served as Majority Leader in Parliament during Uhuru’s presidency, questioning the timing of his criticism.

“You should be the last person to brand Uhuru Mkabila. You were his Majority Leader from 2013 to 2022… for 10 years you didn’t know he was Mkabila?” she posed.

Her remarks come in response to Duale’s earlier statement in which he downplayed UDA’s loss in Ol Kalou, arguing the seat historically belonged to Jubilee and suggesting the opposition had effectively defeated Uhuru rather than President William Ruto’s party.

However, Wamuchomba dismissed this narrative, linking the defeat directly to internal challenges within the ruling coalition.

She further criticised what she described as long-standing arrogance in leadership, warning that the same attitude was now affecting President Ruto’s administration.

“You were the most arrogant Majority Leader Kenya ever had. The same arrogance is messing Ruto’s presidency today,” she added.

The legislator also underscored the political significance of the Mt Kenya region, where Ol Kalou is located, cautioning government leaders against dismissing the electorate’s message.

“Unfortunately, let me remind you, Ol Kalou is Mlima. Come slowly,” she warned.
