Former Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa has begun fresh political consultations following her dramatic exit from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), meeting James Orengo in a move that signals shifting alliances ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The meeting, held a day after her resignation, marks Jumwa’s first public engagement with a senior opposition figure as she charts her next political path.
In a statement on Friday, the former Malindi MP described the talks as part of wider consultations aimed at exploring ideas and partnerships for Kilifi County.
“I had a brief discussion today with James Orengo as part of my commitment to wider consultations,” Jumwa said.
“It was an opportunity to understand and appreciate the Linda Mwananchi Movement’s plans and vision for the people of Kilifi.”
Jumwa emphasized that the engagement was consultative rather than a formal political alignment, noting that dialogue remains central to her next steps.
“I value such engagements because they foster dialogue, strengthen partnerships, and help us work together towards a better future for our county,” she added.
Her outreach comes against the backdrop of a high-profile fallout with UDA, where she cited frustration, alleged marginalisation, and internal wrangles over the Kilifi gubernatorial race.
Jumwa has maintained that her 2027 bid for Kilifi governor was undermined by zoning plans within the party and a lack of support from key decision-makers, despite her role as a founding member and a prominent mobiliser at the Coast during the 2022 elections.
