Ruto Mourns Kiraitu Murungi’s Daughter Anita, Sends Emotional Message of Comfort

President William Ruto has joined Kenyans in mourning the death of Anita Kendi Murungi, the daughter of former Meru Governor and veteran politician Kiraitu Murungi, describing her passing as a painful loss to the family and the nation.


In his condolence message, President Ruto expressed sorrow over the untimely death, noting the emotional weight of losing a child and extending solidarity to the grieving family during what he termed a deeply difficult moment.


“We extend our heartfelt condolences to former Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi and his family following the untimely passing of his daughter, Anita Kendi Murungi,” Ruto said.


He added that the death of a young person full of promise leaves an irreplaceable gap not only within the family but also among friends and the wider community that had hopes for her future.


“The loss of a child, especially one so young, bright, and full of promise, is a profound tragedy that leaves an immeasurable void,” the President said.


Ruto further called for unity and emotional support around the Murungi family, urging Kenyans to stand with them in prayer and solidarity as they navigate the period of grief.


“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Murungi family during this difficult time. May they find strength in the support of family, friends, and all those mourning with them,” he said.


Anita Kendi Murungi’s death was confirmed on Thursday, May 14, 2026, with reports indicating that she passed on after a short illness.
