Senior Counsel Nelson Havi has renewed his attack on nominated Senator Karen Nyamu following her controversial remarks to a student during a Senate engagement, calling for her removal from office in a series of posts on X that have stirred political debate.
The controversy began after Nyamu’s interaction with a Grade 10 student during a School Voluntary Service Programme visit to Parliament, where her remarks triggered public outrage and led to an apology.

In one of his posts, Havi directly called for action from the Head of State, stating: “President William Ruto should revoke Karen Nyamu’s nomination to the Senate. There are more deserving women.”
He argued that her continued stay in office was inappropriate given the public backlash and questions around leadership conduct.
Havi escalated his remarks in subsequent posts, adopting a sarcastic tone while referencing the controversy.
In one post, he wrote: “Explain Aviator in a manner understandable to Karen Nyamu,” a statement widely interpreted as criticism of her competence.
In another message, he added that certain matters should be explained “in a language that may be understood by Karen Nyamu,” further intensifying the personal nature of his criticism.
The senior counsel also drew attention to Nyamu’s past political statements, referencing her earlier criticism of President Ruto’s decision-making.
He used the moment to highlight what he described as contradictions in her political posture.
In a more politically charged remark, Havi stated that Nyamu “embodies EVERYTHING that William Ruto stands for,” adding in the same post that the President was “proud of her.”
The comment linked Nyamu’s conduct to the broader image of the Kenya Kwanza administration, extending the criticism beyond the senator herself.
