When One Parent Does It All: The Reality of Single Motherhood

Single motherhood is a reality many women confront across the world, often shaped by complex personal choices, broken relationships, and unexpected turns in life. For some, it comes after widowhood or separation. 


For others, it emerges after a series of relationships that fail to last. Whatever the path, the responsibility of raising children alone can bring emotional strain, financial pressure, and deep self-doubt.


At 27, Miriam found herself carrying a burden she felt was entirely of her own making.


“I had three children with three different fathers,” she confessed while reflecting on the difficult period in her life. “Looking back, I felt like I had been careless when I was younger. I trusted people too easily and believed promises that were never meant to be kept.”

“There were moments I could not even look at myself proudly,” she admitted. “I loved my children deeply, but I kept thinking they deserved a better mother, someone who had made wiser decisions.”

Miriam was guided on practical steps—setting clear goals, building a support network, improving her financial stability, and focusing on her emotional wellbeing.


Today, she says life is very different.


“I am not the same person I was a few years ago,” Miriam said with confidence. “My children are my motivation, and instead of seeing my past as failure, I now see it as a lesson that pushed me to become stronger.”
