The country continues to mourn the death of Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Kipyegon Ngeno, with tributes highlighting his fearless leadership and commitment to youth empowerment.
Former aide to Raila Odinga, Silas Jakakimba, has shared a personal condolence message describing how he came to know the late legislator and the impact he made both locally and nationally.
In his statement, Jakakimba described Ngeno as a courageous leader who demonstrated intentional and people-centered leadership for residents of Emurua Dikirr Constituency.
He said the late MP consistently defended the interests of his constituents and remained vocal on national issues that touched on livelihoods and social development.
Jakakimba revealed that his interactions with Ngeno stemmed from the MP’s engagements with his former boss, Raila Odinga.
“I knew the Hon. MP through his many public, private and official interactions and engagements with my then boss, H.E. Raila Odinga," he said on Facebook.
Through public forums, official meetings, and private consultations, he observed Ngeno’s dedication to policy advocacy and governance.
According to Jakakimba, one of the legislator’s notable contributions at the national level was his push for policies supporting Kenya’s creative economy.
He said Ngeno strongly believed that the creative sector could play a central role in empowering young people by expanding opportunities in arts, culture, media, and digital innovation.
The former aide noted that Ngeno’s advocacy reflected a broader vision of economic inclusion and youth empowerment, particularly at a time when unemployment remains a major challenge among young Kenyans.
He described the MP as a leader willing to champion progressive ideas aimed at expanding opportunities beyond traditional employment sectors.
Jakakimba extended condolences to the MP’s family, friends, constituents, and parliamentary colleagues, urging them to remain strong during what he described as a deeply trying moment. He prayed for comfort and strength for those affected by the loss.
Ngeno died on Saturday evening following a plane crash in Nandi County, an incident that has sent shockwaves across the political landscape.
Leaders across the political divide have continued to mourn him, describing his death as a major loss to both his constituency and the nation.
As tributes continue to pour in, Ngeno is being remembered as a fearless advocate, a champion of youth empowerment, and a legislator committed to purposeful leadership.
